Tomboy
Tomboy is a desktop note-taking application for Linux, Mac OSX, Windows and Unix based systems. Simple and easy to use, but with potential to help you organize the ideas and information you deal with every day.
Have you ever felt the frustration at not being able to locate a website you wanted to check out, or find an email you found interesting, or remember an idea about the direction of the political landscape in post-industrial Australia? Or are you one of those desperate souls with home-made, buggy, or not-quite-perfect notes systems?
Time for Tomboy. We bet you'll be surprised at how well a little application can make life less cluttered and run more smoothly.
Tomboy is written in C# and utilizes the Mono runtime and Gtk#. Automatic spell-checking is provided by GtkSpell.
No more moving your applications to find a website you dragged to the desktop. No more searching your filesystem to find where you think you maybe put last week's TODO list.
It is a top priority for Tomboy to be able to handle all the sorts of information you want to keep track of. We are currently developing support for linking-to and managing all the Desktop Objects you interact with, all from within a simple note interface. Try dragging an email to your note!

Features
Keeping Track
The key to Tomboy's usefulness lies in the ability to relate notes and ideas together. Using a WikiWiki-like linking system, organizing ideas is as simple as typing a name. Branching an idea off is easy as pressing the Link button. And links between your ideas won't break, even when renaming and reorganizing them.Accessing your notes
Accessing your notes is usually a quick mouse-flick away. Just click on the Tomboy Panel applet, which is always visible on your desktop. You can choose one of the notes you've recently viewed from the menu or Search for older notes. The Table of Contents lists all your notes in the order they were last modified. No more moving your applications to find a website you dragged to the desktop. No more searching your filesystem to find where you think you maybe put last week's TODO list.
Friendly Editing
Tomboy supports many advanced editing features, but they won't bother you until you need them. Stream-lining the interface as much as possible to avoid distractions is a key goal of ours. Because software should never slow your momentum! It is a top priority for Tomboy to be able to handle all the sorts of information you want to keep track of. We are currently developing support for linking-to and managing all the Desktop Objects you interact with, all from within a simple note interface. Try dragging an email to your note!

Avidemux
Avidemux is a free video editor designed for simple cutting, filtering and encoding tasks. It supports many file types, including AVI, DVD compatible MPEG files, MP4 and ASF, using a variety of codecs. Tasks can be automated using projects, job queue and powerful scripting capabilities.
Features
The straightforward user interface is designed for convenience and speed with simple operations. Features include WYSIWYG cutting, appending, filters and re-encoding into various formats. Some of the filters were ported from MPlayer and Avisynth. Avidemux can also mux and demux audio streams into and out of video files, either through re-encoding or using a direct copy mode.
An integral and important part of the design of the program is its project system, which uses the SpiderMonkey ECMAScript scripting engine. Whole projects with all options, configurations, selections, and preferences can be saved into a project file. Like VirtualDub's vcf scripting capabilities, Avidemux has advanced scripting available for it both in its GUI and command line modes. It also supports a non-project system just like VirtualDub, where you can simply create all your configurations and save the video directly without making a project file. A project queue system is also available.
Avidemux has built-in subtitle processing, both for Optical Character Recognition (OCR) to soft subtitle formats (VobSub sub, ass and srt) and various hard subtitle VobSub capabilities. While it is primarily a GUI program, Avidemux can also be run from and through the command line (which can also be used for batch processing and debugging).
Multithreading
Multithreading has been implemented in the following areas of Avidemux (some partially through libavcodec):
* Encoding
o H.264/MPEG-4 AVC (using x264)
o MPEG-1, MPEG-2 (using libavcodec)
o MPEG-4 (SP/ASP, using libavcodec MPEG-4 or Xvid)
+ Xvid requires the latest version from the CVS

GIMP (GNU Image Manipulation Program)
GIMP (the GNU Image Manipulation Program) is a free software raster graphics editor. It is primarily employed as an image retouching and editing tool.
In addition to offering freeform drawing, GIMP can accomplish essential image workflow steps such as resizing, editing, and cropping photos, combining multiple images, and converting between different image formats. GIMP can also be used to create basic animated images in the GIF format. At present GIMP is entirely suitable for amateur or professional work with images intended for viewing on monitors and printing on inkjet printers; GIMP does not yet offer the CMYK separation and color management functionality which is essential for prepress work.
The product vision for GIMP is to become a high-end graphics application for the editing and creation of original images, icons, graphical elements of web pages and art for user interface elements. One point in GIMP's product vision would see GIMP used for the development of cutting-edge image-processing algorithms.
